Begins with a tangled habit gradually changing to an open lacy weepin tree. Perfect for small gardens or that shady spot. The 35 mm long deep yellow flowers appear in dense cluster from late winter to spring and will attract native birds. The seed pods are 15cm long and seeds are poisonous to humans but no cases of poisoning stock
In the wild Kowhai can be found in a diverse range of habitats from coastal cliff faces and associated wetlands to inland grey scrub communities.
